IQ MAXX Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 14, 2026
Last Updated: May 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how IQ MAXX ("we", "us", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our iOS application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Email address — collected at the optional "WAIT" screen after the test so we can preserve your results across reinstalls and send important account-related notices. Storing your email is optional; the app remains functional if you skip the capture screen.
- Onboarding responses — your first name, age, profession (selected from a fixed list), and reason for taking the test ("intent"). These are used to personalize your experience and calibrate your results against age-appropriate population norms.
- Test responses — your answers to questions during the IQ test and daily training sessions, plus your computed score history.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Anonymous user identifier — a randomly generated ID used by RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) to associate your subscription with your device. This is not your Apple ID or any persistent device identifier.
- Purchase information — when you subscribe, we receive a transaction receipt from Apple via StoreKit and via RevenueCat. This includes subscription product ID, purchase date, expiration date, and transaction ID. We do not receive your payment method, credit card details, or Apple ID.
- App usage data — your streak count, session history (which days you trained, your scores), and locally stored test results. This is stored on your device.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your precise or coarse location
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
- We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- We do not use third-party analytics, telemetry, or advertising SDKs
- We do not collect health or medical data
- We do not collect children's data (the app is not directed at users under 13)
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the core app functionality (running the test, daily training, biweekly retests)
- Show you your subscription status and process subscription renewals
- Personalize your experience (display your name on the score reveal, calibrate results by age)
- Improve the app
We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising. We do not share your information with data brokers.
3. Third Parties
We share information with the following service providers, who process it on our behalf:
3.1 Apple
Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple receives purchase information directly when you subscribe. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
3.2 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription state across devices and reinstalls. RevenueCat receives your anonymous user ID, app version, and Apple-provided subscription transaction data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We may add additional service providers in the future (for example, crash reporting or anonymous analytics). If we do, we will update this Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
- On-device data (training history, scores, onboarding responses): persists on your device until you delete the app
- Email (if provided): retained until you request deletion
- Subscription data (via RevenueCat): retained for the duration of your subscription plus 7 years for tax and audit purposes, in accordance with applicable laws
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws including:
- The right to access information we hold about you
- The right to request correction or deletion of your information
- The right to withdraw consent
- The right to data portability
- The right to object to processing
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days of receipt.
California (CCPA) and EU/UK (GDPR) residents
You have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the UK Data Protection Act. We comply with applicable provisions. To submit a request, email [email protected] and we will verify your identity before processing.
We do not sell personal information, so we have nothing to "opt out of" under CCPA.
6. Children
IQ MAXX is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information:
- All network communication is encrypted via HTTPS / TLS
- Apple's StoreKit handles all payment information directly (we never see card numbers)
- Local app data is stored in iOS's standard sandboxed storage
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we make commercially reasonable efforts to protect your information.
8. International Transfers
If you use the app outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to such transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be announced in-app or by email if you have provided one.
